Gyula V\u00e1rnai (2017), Tibor Hajas (2017)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>curators: Anna B\u00e1lv\u00e1nyos, G\u00e9za Boros<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Participation in the Venice Biennale, the oldest and most prestigious international art exhibition in the world, has always played an important role in Hungarian art life.<\/p>\n<p>The Biennale also forms part of the museum\u2019s history, as positioning Hungarian participation in contemporary art began with the work of Katalin N\u00e9ray, the later founding director of the Ludwig Museum, as National Commissioner in 1986.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2015 it has been the Ludwig Museum\u2019s task to organize the exhibitions in the Hungarian pavilion in Venice. Biennial participation also involves a renewed concept of the museum\u2019s role, as well as a collection and archive background.
